Parishioner artwork spreads archangel devotion
They are ever-present companions in the walk of life. God’s holy angels are guardians, messengers, and even warriors in the good fight that every soul is called to walk. At Holy Trinity Parish of Webster County, there is a new reminder of one of the most important heavenly archangels — one who stands always vigilant in the battle for souls.
Fort Dodge artist Mary Jo Hinds recently donated a print of her original St. Michael the Archangel oil color on canvas painting to grace the narthex of Holy Trinity Church in Fort Dodge. A parish member, Hinds has gained notoriety for her work often depicting natural and religious themes. It was a grandson’s request that led her to paint St. Michael.
“Our grandson wanted me to paint something for him,” Hinds explained. “He had been looking through the Bible and found three pictures that he really liked and wanted me to do one of them. St. Michael is the one that captured my heart.”

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle,
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him we humbly pray;
and do thou,
O Prince of the Heavenly host,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan
and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
